Response to Post 1

To many people, it is capitalism which explains the drastic and tremendous economic growth and development that has been witnessed across the world in the recent. Given this positive outcome, capitalism’s negative side is unfamiliar. From the post, nonetheless, there is a deliberate effort to demonstrate how sociocultural and economic alienation in society has been fueled by capitalism. Through his meticulous analysis of capitalism as an economic and societal model, Karl Marx managed to expose its functional components and how they work. In explaining how capitalism has been a cause of alienation in today’s society, Marx outlines that it is a significant contributor to inequality. Apparently, this is evident in the real world. Large corporations, for example, Nike, reap billions in profits, but their employees remain amongst the poorly remunerated in the world. The workers and the owners of the firm, in this case, are two parties which occupy different social classes characterized by a huge rift in both income and social status.

Response to Post 2

With time, the rift between the middle-class and upper-class people has continued to widen. According to the post, this class division is a result of exploitation. The capitalists, who are also known as the bourgeois, know how to adopt new industrial production methods to remain relevant (“Communist Manifesto”). For example, they easily revolutionize instruments of production. In contrast, the proletariats, who are the workers, are forced to adjust to the changes initiated by the bourgeois for survival purposes. In other words, they become the slaves of the capitalists. In brief, the post clearly explains what has been ailing the modern society as far as social class differences are concerned.
