American Pluralism

Today, the topic American pluralism has become commonamong political analystsand social media across the world. This has been elicited by the American political powerand the customs of gaining political positions. Philosophers have developed ideologies that attempt to analyze and reflect the Americanpolitics. Machiavelli and Plato are good examples of these theorists, and their arguments are true reflection of the American pluralism.

Although the philosophers’ theories elaborate the concept of Amercan pluralism Machiavelli’sarguments are superior.He suggested that any citizenhas a say in the government and a capacity to win political authorityas long ashe/she has the ability to excise it and protect his/her leadership. He believed that a ruler who hasthe ability to command is definitely the right leader. According to Machiavelli, authority is all about skills on how to play a political game. On the other hand, Plato insinuated that the right leader must be morally excellent, and besides, he/she should have absolute power. He also suggested that only individuals with power should have a say in a government. This clearly contrasts with the current American democratic ideology which has been dominating. The division of the American authority into judiciary, executive, and legislature is a clear reflection against Plato’s idea of a sole leader possessing absolute power. Therefore, the American pluralism is reflected more by the Machiavelli’s theory when compared to Plato’s concept.

A government is a framework which constitutes multiple people, groups, or entities that share political power. Critical decision making, hence, is a political process which takes into account contributions from many parties. This is what the concept of American pluralism entails, and it is exactly what Machiavelli argues in his theory. Given all the factors discussed, therefore, I considerthe American pluralism to be more reflective of the Machiavelli’s argument than the Plato’s philosophy.
