Argumentative/Research essay makes an argument about or seeks to inform the reader about a certain issue or topic and uses research to support the argument and/or provide information.

Argumentative/Research Essay Options

1. Write an argument essay that presents your opinion along with research evidence as to why flunking should or should not be used as a teaching tool. Be sure to state your position clearly and include specific examples to support your thesis.

2. Many states prohibit texting while driving (research is necessary). Write an essay to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration arguing for or against this policy. Make sure your argument has a clearly stated thesis, and support your points with examples.

3. Write an essay to argue for or against the idea that all incoming students should be required to buy a computer. (Research is necessary). Make sure your argument has a clearly stated thesis, and support your points with examples.
