What is psychosis? How would you recognize psychosis in a client?

Psychosis can occur in a number of disorders, including in severe cases of major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder. How would one differentiate between schizophrenia and each of the mood disorders? Do not just list the differing criteria. In your own words, describe what would you see that is different between each disorder, and what might be different in the client’s presentation and history.

What would be the challenges of interviewing a psychotic client? How would you deal with these?
