Read the two essays by Radhakrishnan (“The Spirit of Indian Philosophy”) and the Carvaka School (“Materialism”) on Indian philosophy, posted under Week 8, “Global Philosophy.” Write your essay on how you think the Carvaka school challenges Radhakrishnan’s idea that there is a spirit to Indian philosophy.

In other words, do you think Radhakrishnan is entitled to speak of something called “the spirit” of Indian philosophy based on how both he and the Cavaka literature characterize what the latter stand for? What is the spirit that Radhakrishnan speaks of (i.e., its six main characteristics) and why would the literature on the carvaka either give support or refute what he states?
