“consideration of alternative arguments” (i.e. “counterarguments”) is a key component of the classic persuasive essay. So if someone disagrees with your position, that’s an opportunity for you to try to understand his/her counterargument (the view that opposes your own) and articulate your rebuttal. The internet should be an ideal platform for this type of idea/research exchange
