Paper Instructions

FORMAT: No plagiarism on this paper. The paper should be very personal and must be in your own word. Every part of it should relate to your decision making. Tell me what you think using your experience ONLY. This is an opinion paper, not a research paper. You may use “I” to reflect your own voice on the paper. Keep it easy to understand. No hard or big word.

The paper should be 5-6 pages (12-point font, Time New Roman, double-spaced, 1 in. margins, and APA’s writing style), grammatically correct and spell checked. No plagiarism on this paper. No outside source/research required. No need to reference on the chapter.

First, read the Chapter 8. Then response to the 6 questions. Answer at least 2-3 paragraphs for each question.

1. Chapter 8 – pages 286-290. Does the organization for which you are working or any for which you have worked have the type of entrepreneurial resources discussed in pages 286-290? If so, has the organization been able to marshal those resources to gain competitive advantage? If so, why? If not, why?
2. Chapter 8 – page 309 of the text talks about forbearance and co-opetition. There is a mini-case on p. 310 to make some points on this. Have you been involved in either or both of these? Why? Please give us the details and discuss your experience in the light of the information in the text.
3. Chapter 8 – Have you ever heard of this relatively new strategy (mentioned specifically on pp. 296-297 but please see the last paragraph on p. 295)? If so, have you ever used it? Please discuss it and whether it worked as “advertised” by the two academics, Kim and Mauborgne.
4. Chapter 8 – Much of what is in this chapter applies to not just small companies but large ones as well. Exhibit 8.8, page 303, “Five ‘Hardball’ Strategies,” is a very good example. Have you been a perpetrator or on the receiving end of any of these? Please discuss and enlighten us and give us your thoughts about the experience.
5. Have you been involved in a business or product line start-up? If so, please relate for us the topics mentioned in Chapter 8 that you experienced. Do you disagree with the text on any of those topics? Do you have a slightly different perspective than the text?
6. After reading Chapter 8 – Do you have any questions about Chapter 8’s material? What specifically is your issue?
