my class is ART. I want you to pretend that if you were me and write one page about your thoughts, opinion and emotions about topics that we covered. and the topics are: functions of line: to outline and shape-as form to create depth and texture.
Hatching: using a serious of closely. What lines imply: 1-horizontal line: suggest stability. 2: vertical line: gravity and suggest assertiveness. 3: diagonal line: imply movement and directionality.
Shape: in art shapes are defines as the areas within a composition that have boundaries.
Volume: is a term that may be used to describe the amount of space a work contains.
Mass: refers to directly to its bulk.
Actual mass: occupies three dimensional space and has measurable volume and weight.
Implied mass: creates the illusion of possessing volume.
Types of shapes: 1: geometric shapes. 2: biomorphic shapes. 3: organic shapes.
Colors: 1: Hue: term for family of color.
Cool: colors on the green.
Warm: yellow-orange.
Saturation: the pureness of the color.
Shades: adding black to hue.
Tints: adding white to a hue.
Additive color: mixing light.
Subtractive color: mixing pigments.
Primary colors: color that can not be derived from the mixing of the colors.
Secondary color: created from the overlap or mixing of 2 primary colors.
Tertiary colors: created by combining equal parts of the primary and secondary that are closest.
Texture: derived from latin word”weaving” used to describe surface character of thing through the sense of touch.
Impasto: a think build up of paint on the surface of the canvas.
Atmospheric texture:
Texture gradient: closer objects are perceived a sharing rougher or more detailed.
so these are the most topics that we talked about. i just want as i said to write you opinion, thoughts, observations, what you like, and what you do not like. use your own words, distill the information and begin forming your own analysis and research about topics in art. that’s all.
