Focusing and Art Therapy

Clinical and Theoretical Application of Eugene Gendlin’s FOCUSING and Laury Rappaports Focusing Oriented Art Therapy 2009. Applied to Emerging Adults (refer to Jeffrey Arnett)—applied to these young adults as there are in a transition into adulthood. There must be at least 3 references to Gendlin’s work, 3 references from articles listed on focusing website www.focusing.org and 4 references from Rapport’s book (plus any other thing that needs to be referenced such as Arnett’s research on emerging adults).

Questions to be addressed (but definitely not limited to):

Why Focusing and Focusing Oriented Art Therapy would be useful for this specific age group?

How would they benefit, specifically for this age group (this is where it is critical to understand Arnett’s description of Emerging Adults and their characteristics).

How this would benefit these young adults discovering their authentic self and how that will effect their life?

How using different expressive arts would be useful for this group.

How focusing could help this group become more clear with issues such as “What’s Next, Who am I?, What career should I take?” Looking at the “big questions in life.
