3. Using templates to create a resume can help a job-seeker avoid the unorthodox formats and styles that often doom a resume to an employers wastebasket. On the other hand, some experts believe that templates result in a cookie-cutter appearance and a lack of flexibility that can lead a job-seeker to be overlooked. Is using a template to create a resume a good idea or a bad idea? Why? Does the answer depend on the type of job? What can be done to avoid the perceived negatives attached to using a template?

4. Printed advertisements on posters and in newspapers and magazines are similar to one-slide presentations, designed to attract the eye and provide information. Have students locate an effective print advertisement. What information does the advertisement provide? How does knowing about the intended audience of the advertisement inform the advertisements design? Is the advertisements design effective? Why or why not? What can be learned about creating a presentation from analyzing a print advertisement?

Jake, a classmate, tells you that he didnt have time to enter the formulas in his worksheet and, instead, calculated the correct result using his calculator and entered the result of his calculations in the cells instead of the formulas. Could any problems arise because of Jakes actions? If so, what kinds of problems? How can someone look to see if Jake used formulas?

8. Mike calls you in a panic! He is working on a very critical data analysis and unexpectedly the error message #REF! appears in one of his cells instead of the formulas result. He asks for your help.What explanation can you give Mike for the error and what tips can you give him on resolving the error quickly? What if he gets ##### in his cells? What does he need to do?
