ESSAY #3 – CAUSE/EFFECT AND/OR ARGUMENT/PERSUASION/TAKING A STAND
Books: Lies My Teacher told me chapters 12 and 13 by James W. Loewen
Below are two prompts for the final essay. You may choose one or combine both into one essay. You have quite a bit of creative freedom here, so run with it. I do expect some research, and I do expect it to be of the non “The Google” type of research.

Prompt #1- write an essay that proposes how to “fix” the problems Loewen addresses in chapters 12 and 13. It does not have to be a program or physical act, it can be a way of thinking… a philosophy, perhaps.

Prompt #2- write a reflection essay about Lies My Teacher Told Me. Explain how it made you feel, why you felt that way, and what effect long term and short term his book has had/will have on you and the way you look at your country and fellow citizens (and citizens-to-be!)
Instructions:
• You must have a minimum of three library resources to support your thesis
• Use Loewen’s Lies My Teacher Told Me as a source (four sources total)
Requirements:
• Write 3 FULL pages (a full page means the text goes all the way to the bottom of the page. Make sure your margins are one inch all around)
• Complete and accurate MLA format
• NO Google research, LACC/GCC library research or other approved credible research only!
• MLA style
