Format for case write-ups: The written case assignments are expected to be no more than five pages of double-spaced text plus any supporting charts, Appendices. Each write-up should focus on the questions provided for that case below.
Assignment Questions (AQ)
(a) What were Apple’s competitive advantages?
(b) Analyze the dynamics of the PC industry. Are these dynamics favorable or problematic for Apple?
(c) Has Steve Jobs finally solved Apple’s long-standing problems with respect to the Macintosh business?
(d) The iPod-iTunes business has been a spectacular success. Explain how this business model works. Has Jobs found a new formula to create a sustainable competitive advantage for Apple?
(e) How would you assess Apple’s initial strategy for the iPhone? Why did Apple change so quickly to a different strategy?
