Using Gaming to Enhance the World Cup Experience in Qatar

Description of the Project

Qatar will host the 17th edition of the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup in December 2020, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup that will happen in the Middle East for the first time from November 21 to December 18. The Qatari government hopes to portray the country and the entire Middle East positively as it hosts the 2020 event while awaiting the main event in 2022. One of the innovative ways to do this would be to formulate a video game in collaboration with Electronic Arts Inc. (EA), which a reputable American video game manufacturer based in Redwood City, California. The game that shows Qatar’s preparedness for the international competitions by highlighting the players, coaches, referees, and stadiums as well as give some information about the respective components. The main goal for the project is to develop a new version of a video game for the FIFA World Cup that would take place in Qatar in 2022 by entering into a deal that covers all aspects influencing the contract, including the vision all partners have for the new version of the game.

Objectives

The project aspires to achieve various goals that would help to host enjoyable events in 2020 and 2022. The primary aim is to deliver a positive image of Qatar and the whole of the Middle East by incorporating games into the local culture. The project, through the incorporation of technology, aspires to improve sports tourism in Qatar, not only during the global events, as well as during other sporting occasions such as local tournaments and sporting programs. The project wants to create an excellent reputation for the local players at the international level and to make them more marketable. The project aspires to open avenues for the state to improve the video game sector and make it a revenue generator for the country. Players and visitors will also view the country as being able to use technology to advance leisure practice and one that aspires to be different in its approach to such global events.

Itinerary

EA and National Regulations

EA has the reputation of being one of the highly developed video game firms in the U.S., Europe, and other parts of the world, which makes it more suitable for this project. Since the company’s formation by Trip Hawkins in the early 1980s, the firm has grown to be a leader in the home computer game sector and is notable for games such as Need for Speed, FIFA, NBA Live, and other sport-related games. EA proves to be a suitable partner for the project considering its past success in producing World Cup-related games, including World Cup 1998, 2002 FIFA World Cup, 2006 FIFA World Cup, 2010 FIFA World Cup, 2014 FIFA World Cup, and 2018 FIFA World Cup. A common feature between the EA and Qatari regulations is they both address the need to engage in free and fair trading practices and advocate for the protection of the trademark. The resemblance creates an opportunity to participate in a contract that will not affect any of the parties.

Components of the Video Game

The exclusive video game shall incorporate features that are unique to Qatar and its approach and view of the 2020 and 2022 events organized by FIFA. The game shall provide players or users with some storyline and history about the characteristics of the Arabian athletes. It shall give some overview of the Qatari Football National team as well as other clubs. The video game will enlighten players and users about the various stadiums where the World Cup matches will take place, as well as about the Qatari coaches and referees who will officiate over the events. The other components of the game include Arabian audiences, Arabic sportscasters, and an analytical studio to offer an analysis of the matches as they happen.

Draft for the Cooperation

The contract requires team work and commitment from all parties to achieve the objectives. The team from Qatar shall offer all the relevant information about the progress of sports in the country to enable EA include all the relevant features. The Qatari representative will oblige to all financial requirements to make the project successful. The manufacturer will focus on achieving quality during production, and will maintain honesty throughout the contract period. The parties will rely on transparent communication, and will share ideas whenever necessary.

FIFA eWorld Cup

The game will offer players an opportunity to experience the FIFA World in an electronic version (FIFA eWorld Cup). The players will acquire enough overview of the Qataris and their preparation for the events. Players will be able to get a glimpse of how the 2020 and 2022 events will take place but through the comfort of their mobile phones, tablets, and computers. The FIFA eWorld Cup will allow players to get real time information about soccer when they connect to the internet, as well as receive other content that improve their awareness about local football. Hopefully, players will get the chance to enjoy the game when the country will be hosting the World Cup in December 2020. Offering an electronic version of the World Cup will increase the desire to visit Qatar for the events and will show how the country is committed to using technology to improve the experience during the two global occasions.

Methodology

The study will employ the description method to describe the EA and its accomplishments about past updates and editions of World Cup competitions, as well as in explaining the nature and effects of the applicable national regulations. The approach shall make it easy to describe the features of the company and tell why the company is the best partner to be part of the deal. The descriptive method shall make it possible to understand what EA does, when it manufacturers, where it operates, and how it obliges to the set rules and regulations, but will not question why the company uses particular techniques and approaches over others. The descriptive method is suitable because it will help to understand the nature of various national regulations that would impact on the application of the video game during the sporting events. Settling on a suitable method for assessing the relevant federal regulations is important because the project would rely on several provisions to offer guidance in completing the contract. The research, for example, shall depend on Law No. 9 of 2002 that regulates matters about trade names, trademarks, and other issues touching on industrial contracts and the Law No. 22 of 2004 relating to the promulgation of the Civil Code. The project will also rely on Law No. 27 of 2006 that defines trading practices and Law No.17 of 2011 that establishes the protection of intellectual property rights. The executors of the project, therefore, should be conversant with how the descriptive method works to achieve the best results.

The project shall also apply the analyzing method to evaluate the information gathered from studying the game manufacturer and national legislations. The technique requires a critical evaluation of what effects the game will have on the spectators and Qatar, as well as how the legislation will influence the interaction between the contracting parties. The analysis method will require the evaluators to assess the critical components of how the company shall develop the game, and what features it would incorporate to make the innovation more appealing and different from the past production. The assessors will have to be keen while using the analysis method to avoid missing on helpful information because the process requires adequate knowledge of the systematic application of logical and statistical data to arrive at the best outcome. The evaluators must consider other relevant issues while applying the analyzing method such as the manner or way of presenting data, the importance of being unbiased, and the importance of paying attention to validity and reliability of the gathered information. The team in charge of the data analysis process will increase their chances of arriving at the desired outcomes by having objectives that guide the analysis process, being honest in their analysis of the data, and adhering to the acceptable norms and guidelines for performing such evaluations. Inappropriate applications or considerations while using the analyzing method may cause immense interference, which requires all participants to focus on the basic designs and techniques.

Work Calendar

1st March – 1st April – Forming ties and contract terms with EA

2nd April – 2nd May – Evaluating the national legislations

6th May – 10th July – Developing the video game

Conclusion

The project offers an opportunity to develop a video game that would improve the spectators’ experience during the 2020 and 2022 World Cup events in Qatar. The project entails partnering with EA to develop a unique video game that would offer valuable information about Qatar’s preparation for international competitions, and give much information about the players in the various teams and clubs. The project shall utilize the descriptive method to understand the effectiveness of EA and to know the effects of different national legislations. More fundamentally, the plan shall allow Qatar to venture into gaming as a way of boosting its sporting tourism and revenue.
