Are All Good Samples Random?

A random sample refers to a randomly selected sample. In other words, a random sample is the unbiased representation of the aggregate sample or population. Randomly sampling of data is one of the easy ways for collecting data (Bennett, Briggs & Triola, 2014). However, all good samples are not random (Bennett, Briggs & Triola, 2014). Although random sampling provides opportunity for every member has an equal opportunity of being selected or chosen.  Overall, compelling study is when the chosen data sample is illustrative of the population (Bennett, Briggs & Triola, 2014). It is crucial to ensure random sampling when retrieving consistent and reliable data for a survey. Therefore, when every person (women, men, younger, older, unemployed, employed, Republican, or Democrat) are given a similar opportunity and chance to participate creates a good data samples for any study.

In conducting random samples, good samples need to provide an opportunity for every person to participate. This note guarantees that the collected data offers adequate informed decisions and ideal to be examined. However, there are other forms of samples, such as purposive sampling, because not all samples are random. Therefore, good samples give equal chances to each person to participate. With a good sample, the outcomes eliminate unbiased responses and assumptions (Bennett, Briggs & Triola, 2014). To validate good samples, one needs to ensure the samples obtained will represent the reasons for the survey. For instance, if anyone lies or provides false information, this messes up the entire sampling process. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that the technique of collecting data is perfect and ideal for fostering credibility of the given responses.
