ESEM Principle: Governance

            Often, ESEM Projects and programs raise pertinent scientific, ethical, economic, and cultural issues. As such, leaders managing these issues require impeccable governance skills that paint accountability, democracy, and transparency. Therefore, ESEM governance systems should always place premiums on the realization of flexibility and bolster foster maintenance of regular changes in the systems under their purview.

            Earth system engineers and policymakers play a crucial role in ensuring the success of governance. Just like in politics, maintenance of an excellent optics’ standings for these engineers is pertinent (Allenby, 2002). As such, adequate resources should be availed to both the immediate ESEM projects and the body of scientific theories and technology research that is also necessary for ensuring the continued relevance and simplification of ESEM concepts.

            As was mentioned earlier, governance has widely been applied in numerous realms of human life. One such field that stands out the most, with specific reference to the topics I have covered this semester, is carbon cycle management. ThEuses earth systems engineering concepts to realize adequately low carbon levels in the atmosphere. The first step of carbon cycle management involves the reduction of carbon emissions. The second step is carbon sequestration, which captures the excessive emissions. Thirdly, governance concepts guide ESEM systems in designing a virtual atmosphere at ambient carbon dioxide levels. In the fourth step, governance personifies the integrated earth systems engineering and carbon cycle management, and thus, giving the virtual abilities to find solutions for the problems at hand.

Subsequently, following the move by chemists and physics to adopt flowcharts and info graphs in describing scientific experiments and results, there was a need for companies to structure and publicize their organization. It the quest to thwart the blaring consequences of climate change and global warming, plenty of ideas was borrowed from the topic of governance to aid in the explanation and simplification of carbon cycle management processes (Braje, 2015). These governance concepts have eased documentation of the carbon cycle management processes. The figure below demonstrates the commonly adopted carbon cycle management system in most parts of the world.

The diagramshows that the primary sources of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere are biomass, municipal waste, and fossil fuels. Here, electricity is a significant component emerging from the involvement of carbon cycle management is. Hence, with quality and reliable electricity in place, people feel encouraged to gain access to their national grids, and thus, spur the needed widespread economic growth.
