Central Idea: To create awareness about the dangers of alcohol and measures that can solve this problem.

Why We Should Not Drink Alcohol

Introduction

  1. Attention-getter: Alcohol drinking has recently become one of the most dangerous habits which destroys the lives of many people.
  2. Central Idea: To create awareness about the dangers of alcohol and measures that can solve this problem.
  3. Credibility: I have been studying the harmful effects of alcohol for the last year and gained reliable information on why we should not consume it.
  4. Preview of the main points: The main measures that can be taken to eradicate alcohol consumption are creating awareness and designing the discouraging pricing mechanism on alcohol products.

(Transition) Firstly, I am going to talk about the effects of drinking alcohol.

Effects of drinking alcohol

  1. Main point – Alcohol consumption results in deaths, health problems, impaired judgments, and poor living standards.

Supporting Points:

  1. More than three million people die or become disabled every year from consuming alcohol (Rehm).
  2. Alcohol increases the risks of getting cancer, diabetes, and liver diseases (Rehm).
  3. Addicted people spend their finances on alcohol.

 (Transition) Secondly, I will be talking about solutions to this problem.

II. Main Point – Among possible solutions, I find the following two to be the most effective.

Supporting Points:

  1. Creating awareness is a measure that can solve this problem (World Health Organization).
  2.  Increasing the cost of alcohol beverages by imposing high taxes on them will discourage consumption and trade of alcohol products.

(Transition) Thirdly, I am going to focus on the impacts of these solutions.

III. Main Point – The proposed solutions are beneficial in several aspects.

Supporting Points:

  1. First and foremost, people will not die from the excessive drinking.
  2. Secondly, people will avoid the risks of diseases caused by alcohol consumption.
  3. Lastly, the money saved from buying an alcoholic beverage can be spent on healthy and important things.

 (Transition) The reasons mentioned above lead to the following conclusion.

Conclusion

  • Alcohol drinking habit results in immense negative effects.
  • The consequences call everyone to take action of creating awareness to the public on reasons why we should not drink alcohol.
