The Psychic Prison Metaphor

A consulting client of yours asks you to help with a perceived problem of turnover and low levels of perceived organizational commitment. You visit with the client and then with all 20 of the employees (the client has one location). As you interview the employees you get the sense that the organization is similar to Morgan’s metaphor of a psychic prison. You believe that the client (the boss) is not aware of the type of organization he/she has created. You need to present to the client what you have found and help move him away from the unintended consequence of a psychic prison.
Use theory and content knowledge from class and write out what you say to the client.
