For this final response, you will write a rhetorical analysis of your own editorial. As we have
done with other texts this quarter, you will focus on not merely what the argument is, but how the
author (in this case you) makes the argument.
Your response should draw on any and all of the rhetorical strategies and features of writing we
have discussed this quarter, including:
ethos, pathos, logos
audience
exigence
figurative language
tone/voice
organization (of sentences, paragraphs, the editorial itself)
Your response should be focused, and should argue whether the editorial is successful in
presenting a persuasive argument–try to be objective here. I know from talking with some of
you that this assignment was challenging, as it asked you to argue against your own stance on the
issue. So be honest: did you ultimately make a strong case? Or do you find weaknesses in it?
